Statement of Significance (as of September 9, 2008):
The lodge at Twin Falls State Park is just one representative of the first, and so far only, time that I played hooky from work and put myself ahead of my job. In October 2006, as I had vacation days remaining to use at my job and I was very much looking forward to seeing the fall foliage, I decided to use 3 vacation days in the 2nd-to-last week of the month and I was going to go to West Virginia, where the fall colors would be in full bloom, and plus I would also be able to see some waterfalls as a bonus. However, my boss did not give me the days off I requested, nor did he put in the paperwork to give me vacation pay for those days, because we were short-handed in terms of employees. This was not the first time that I would have had to give up my plans for him and I was tired of him taking away from my free time when I'm an honest worker, so after being a loyal employee to my jobs for 12 years, I finally went through with taking days off that I wasn't supposed to. Despite being scheduled to work, I left for West Virginia anyway. I spent that first night I was gone at a hotel in Elkins, and then on the second night, I spent it at the lodge at Twin Falls State Park after seeing other waterfalls earlier that day. The feeling of freedom from being somewhere other than work mixed in with the fear of losing my job left my head spinning throughout my trip, but I still managed to make it an enjoyable time, and luckily for me, I still had my job when I got back (after I was given a predictable lecture by my boss).
