Statement of Significance (as of September 9, 2008):
During the summer of 2007, as I started to become more active in the photography website Flickr.com, I began to look at a new feature that was added to the site: "geotagging". Users of Flickr were able to place on a world map the exact location their photographs were taken, and this map was searchable by anyone, making exposure of pictures much easier. While looking at the geotag map from the Greenville area, I noticed that nobody had yet added pictures that were taken at the new Lake Conestee Nature Park, which was opened in late 2006. I had never been to the park up until that point, so I figured that I would make the park "my own" by making a photo set on Flickr devoted to the nature park and add it to the geotag map. The park was only 5 miles away from where I lived, so going there and taking pictures was a snap. I spent a few days in the summer of 2007 walking the trails and looking for photo opportunities, trying to make the Flickr set as in-depth as possible. It felt really good to "claim" the nature park as my own and it serves as a memoir of my addiction to Flickr.com.
