    Unless you're from Canada, you probably think of Alanis as an angst-ridden weirdo because of her worldwide debut "You oughta know". But our Canadian friends know her as a former pop princess.

    In '91, at age 16, the Canadian released her debut album, simply called "Alanis". It featured Alanis doing Debbie Gibson-esque pop songs. However, unlike Debbie, who sang lyrics like "I just can't shake your love", Alanis made a bigger statement with one of the best lyrics ever written: "Give it to me like I'd like to give it to you!"

    That line came from "Feel your Love", the first release off her '91 album. Around that lyric are what could be considered typical dance-and-hip-hop music found in most pop acts of the early 90's and a wonderful yet powerful chorus.

    How did I find this song? After hearing about Alanis' pop days on VH-1, I started to scour the Web for sound clips or MP3's from her old days, and I eventually found full-length MP3's of the whole "Alanis" album. I was so impressed by not only "Feel your Love" and other songs on the album that I got it from an eBay seller. Who says people don't buy CD's after downloading MP3's?
