    Sitting comfortably atop my list of favorite songs is one that, appropriately enough for my favorite song ever, has long-lasting appeal and I can listen to it over and over. If songs had arms, Freestyle's "Don't Stop the Rock" would have biceps larger than Scott Steiner's. From the moment the song starts, with the synthesizer-handclap combo, it grabs you and keeps your attention. The song's vocals are digitized, immediately bringing you back to the 80's and making you feel like you're in a back alley break-dancing with your buds. However, despite the seemingly come-and-gone trendiness of Freestyle, the song could still get a dance floor moving in the 21st century.

    My discovery of this masterpiece was an accident. On New Year's Eve '96, the radio station I normally listen to was playing nothing but dance music all day. When "Don't Stop the Rock" started, at first I thought it was another song that I used to like but haven't heard in a while, so I started recording it on cassette. After a while, I started to realize it wasn't the song I thought it was, but I was really digging the song, so I finished recording it... and then proceeded to listen to it over and over, wondering who the artist was. Finally, I researched it and found Freestyle.

    "Don't Stop the Rock" had been at the #2 position for years now, thanks to Run-DMC and Quiet Riot. But in November 2005, I finally made the big move and put the song on its rightful throne.
